What is YogaWriteNow?
YogaWriteNow is a live, in the flesh, yoga posture practice combined with self-exploration writing exercises kind of workshop. It may also be combined with other creative exercises and Nature explorations (when appropriate).
It's also an online course — check out what's up and coming here.
Yoga or writing experience is NOT a prerequisite for this workshop nor is any other skill set. All you need is a body and the desire to dive deep and to discover the authentic expression of YOU.
YWN is hosted and created by Tanya Lee Markul {and sometimes co-hosted by super special guests}.
Who is Tanya?
Hey there! I'm a messy-haired heart activist, an intuitive creative & life-passionate yogini who writes and does a lot of super weird stuff! I love to laugh, play and break constricting rules. I'm an international yoga teacher based in Copenhagen!
Founder of Thug Unicorn, The Urban Howl & Waking Wild
Tanya is a freer of creativity, of inner beauty + authentic power. She is an enthusiastic igniter of the wild spirit — an artist of life, a faery of trees, a wanderer of the dark, a writer of heart, and a rebellious yogini. She is a city witch and an urban priestess that undoubtedly believes in you.
It is her life mission to give as many who are willing, a sacred space to claim their darkness, to name it, to give it a voice, and to discover their personal courage to creatively express it with soulful purpose.
She believes there is no greater classroom than life in this body, and that life is a discovery of individual nourishment, healing, self-acceptance and the most authentic creative expression of the self. She also believes in the power of Nature and a community intimately connected to and with all life forms.
Tanya has lived in the United States, Norway, England and Denmark — and has traveled all around the world. She has over 1,000 hours of yoga teacher training and has been teaching since 2009.
Tanya has studied with master teachers from around the world. She has set her foundation, pushed inner boundaries and has achieved a yoga teacher certification from Paul Dallaghan. She has explored and has been deeply inspired by a somatic, intimate practice from Godfrey Devereux. She has discovered her authentic voice and has developed and refined her teaching skills with Chris Chavez. She has sat in circle, expanding her tools, insight and mind for potent inner healing work with the deeply connected and immensely beloved, Shamanic teacher, Jonathan Horwitz.
In 2013 she ignited on a journey of freedom and well-being with Anja Bergh, Leila Sadeghee and Heather Umlah that ignited her soulful purpose and ultimately shifted her life in a way that is still assimilating.
She will eventually finish a 100-hour hoop training with Shakti Sunfire and is currently an Urban Priestess student with Sianna Sherman & Ashley Turner. In 2015, she completed 35 hours of Yin teacher training with Jo Phee.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Journalism and a Master’s Degree in Business and has a love for colour palettes, anchors and trees.
She’s been writing even before she could form words. An act that ultimate saved her life from a more than challenging childhood, and over a decade ago she bought a one-way ticket to an adventure to discover how to nourish her REAL hunger — to heal, create and unleash her potential and authentic self by diving deep into her darkness. She has never looked back.
She has a wicked sense of humour and loves a challenge as well as a full-belly laugh. She’s lovable ass-kicker and an intuitive creative who believes in your magic.
Tanya and her husband Christian were blessed to give birth to their first son on February 24, 2014, their darling, sparkly light and gentle guru, Albert Leo.
