Who are these workshops for?
These workshops are for journaling and creative + emotional expression-type writing.
During these workshops, stories of legendary and revolutionary thinkers, writers, and poets will be shared to encourage personal contemplation. Their most illustrious poems, prose, and quotes will be used to prompt writing and encourage the muse.
We will not study any particular genre, but dab into many, and we won't discuss social media strategy or book publishing. If this is your mission, visit Publish Your Poetry 30, this course is for those who want to receive 30 days of writing prompts — and prepare their book for self and/or traditional publishing — for finished and unfinished manuscripts.
In the WTRYP writing workshops, we’ll practice writing from a child's mindset, with openness, imagination, and without judgment -- to free our words.
We’ll write to reveal possibility.
The intention of this type of writing is to discover your personal voice, to build self-awareness about who you are, and to encourage a better, more compassionate + authentic relationship with yourself + your story -- all of which builds a solid framework and a necessary practice for any type of future writing.
If there’s one thing that’s true for every person, it is that everyone has a story to tell.
Have you ever asked yourself:
Where do I start? What do I write about? How do I find my voice? What is my inspiration?
There is always a place you can go to find the answers to these questions…
Like I love to say —
Tell your story to the most important person in your life: you.
In other words, use your life experiences and everything you’ve been through, felt, dreamt of, loved and longed for, been hurt by, and felt — use it all as inspiration.
Frida Kahlo said, "I paint myself because I am the subject I know best.”
You do know yourself best, even if it doesn’t feel like it all the time.
And, if you’re stuck or having trouble getting started…
Write the resistance.
Write through the blocks.
Write to create a healthy relationship with your life.
So start with your story and come back to your story.
Our stories reveal so much about who we really are and why we are the way we are. Our stories can also reveal the possibility between the lines — and how much more we are than our narratives.
Writing helps to build an awareness of who you are.
When we become more self-aware, we become filled with information about ourselves, what we’re working with — where we’re strong, where we’re stuck, and where beauty and authenticity reside.
Writing introduces us to the wondrous canvas of the self.
The intention of this writing workshop…
is to invite you into a space of creative play + flow + to open up to the possibility of writing from a place that feels authentic, freeing + empowering to you.
